Sweet Leads Kasey Kahne Racing Sweep of World of Outlaws at Volusia

Hoffman dominates UMP Modifieds for 17th DIRTcar Nationals victory of his career

BARBERVILLE, FL — Feb. 8, 2020 — Brad Sweet and James McFadden led a Kasey Kahne Racing sweep of the top two spots in Saturday night’s World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Feature at Volusia Speedway Park’s DIRTcar Nationals presented by Bozard Ford.

Sweet, the defending Series champion, was battling Ian Madsen for the lead on Lap 7 when the two got together as they closed quickly on the back of the field. Madsen tried to shoot through an opening on the top side of Turn 2, but he ran out of room in the blink of an eye and went for a wild ride that took him out of the race.

Sweet cruised to victory the rest of the way, with McFadden and Daryn Pittman following him across the finish line. Brian Brown was fourth and Logan Schuchart charged from 25th to finish fifth.

The DIRTcar UMP Modified field was split into Saturday and Sunday qualifying Features for Monday’s $5,000-to-win Gator Championship event, with Nick Hoffman dominating Saturday’s race for his second victory of the week and the 17th of his career at Volusia Speedway Park. Hoffman powered to a full straightaway lead on the rest of the field and never looked back.
